Catherine Gombe has focused her professional life on scholarly work involving Indigenous Knowledge and Vocational Education and Training (VET). She has published significantly on Bark-cloth, indigenous pottery production, crafting, indigenous arts and community empowerment. Her membership includes; NSEAD, InSEA, IRA. She has publications with Arnold Hodder Africa.

Josephine Mukasa is a senior lecturer at Nkumba. Besides her university work, she engages in a number of community-based projects including, consultancy in craft production and marketing and coordinating women organisations in productive skilling activities. Previously she has been a principle researcher under a Rockefeller Foundation grant and a Fullbright programme

Mike Nandala heads the department of Design and Applied Arts at SCIAD. He is a postgraduate supervisor,  teaches graphic design, research methodology and has undertaken several consultancy assignments with government and local publishing houses. Topics of some conference papers include; cultural heritage tourism and artists in climate change engagement.

Charles Lwanga Kaggwa is the Dean of SCIAD and also the University’s international relations officer. His lecturers in design and vocational education focus on use of organic materials and his research interests spread into how art is relevant in multiple life aspects including health, education, community empowerment and business.
